Would it be challenging to do 3000 pushups this month? I don't think so but I'm going to find out. Today I started busting out pushups randomly throughout the day. I think the hardest part will be remembering to do the pushups daily. I plan on doing 100/day and increasing the daily hit if it becomes easy.
I'm sure somewhere out there someone is doing 3000 pushups/day. That would be impressive.

Earlier this week I delved into the word of nerd assisted training. I went for a VO2max test and was told, rather surprisingly, that I am a fat burning machine have the profile of an ultramarathoner. Apparently getting out on some fine alpine adventures turns a person into a newbie runner. I've proven it with the marathon so perhaps the next step is a ironman or an ultra. In any case, I'm fully psyched to train with a HRM and try to increase my VO2max.
My test results showed that my zone 1 HR should be 146-154 which is a fair bit higher than I thought it would be. This morning I tried running at that HR but it felt too hard to maintain. Interestingly enough, when I walked briskly up a steep high it felt easier to maintain a HR of 155. Back on the flats it was purely labourious. Perhaps it's purely a sport specific adaptation to alpine approach plodding or maybe I'm a very inefficient runner.
While I'm psyched to train, I'm also feeling angst for my future work plans. Do I continue to make good money away from home or should I take the plunge to mere pittance in order to live constantly at home? Would I be stronger with two days off a week instead of working for 40 and taking 40 off? Hmmmm

since i'm absolutely sure that my perception and assumptions on oman will change once i get there, i've decided to record them. this should provide for future amusement and reflection.
the hype: HEAT
oman is supposed to be a hot country. how hot can it be? is 55 celcius horrible compared to 45 around kamloops while treeplanting? due to the hype purchased some "trekking" clothing. i find this clothing somewhat ridiculous if not pricey. sure it's comfy but i consider the vents to be bunk and wouldn't cotton clothing fare just as well? when i try it on i feel like i should be riding an elephant. in any case, if we are forced to wear long sleeve PPE at work, we are going to have the worst farmer tans imaginable.
mini pasty will have the hardest time dealing with the sun and i look forward to his bitching.
i also purchased a water bladder in order to drink at will. perhaps i'll find it to be a needed luxury.

i just walked around outside with my vapour barrier socks for 40min. seems fine but something weird happened. most of the purple on my big toe disappeared and now i'm left with a ring of purple bifurcating the the frostbitten area and the non frostbitten area. i'm interested to see if the purple returns or wearing the vbl warmed my toes enough to provide greater circulation and flush the blood.
so, i'll try climbing tomorrow. i'll need to be hyperaware of the warmth of my feet. i think if i froze my toe again with the vbl it would be bad, bad news.

since i have yet to find anyone who can show me proper technique for movements such as the clean, scott and i just used 85lbs for the above. powerlifting movements don't feel natural to me at all. i also went to the climbing gym today. i managed to squeeze my frostbitten toes into a shoe without any pain. my big toe looked especially nasty whenever i took my shoe off. tomorrow i'll see how badly my toes will fare out in the cold.
